Throughout the 1980s, Simmons' drums appeared on numerous albums in various genres, from disco to reggae to chart-topping pop tunes. Synth-wave and other '80s-inspired genres have given their distinctive sounds a fresh vitality in recent years.

We drew inspiration from the SDS "drum brain" design for Hex Drum but added more flexibility by incorporating extensive editing tools and our unique twists. It lets you easily dial in that classic vintage drum sound but still feels right at home in a modern mix.
